MITYANA DISTRICT REGISTERED OVER 8,711 CANDIDATES FOR 2026 PLE

A total of 8,711 candidates have been officially registered to sit for the 2026 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) in Mityana District.
According to the District Inspector of Schools Speaking during the verification of the registration at the district headquarters, Mr. Kiggundu Patrick expressed great optimism regarding the finalized figures, and he said that 8,711 candidates of which UPE candidates total 5,267, while non-UPE candidates stand at 3,444. He added that they managed to beat the timeline that was set up by UNEB.
"This declaration is a massive milestone for Mityana. Managing a registry of 8,711 young minds requires precision, and we are incredibly proud that our schools beat the UNEB registration timelines without major friction. Our primary focus right now shifts directly toward preparing these candidates academically so they can convert these high numbers into stellar Division One performances." Said Kiggundu
Acting District Education Officer Mr. Emmanuel Wamala thanked the district inspector of schools for the work done and he said that the large representation of government funded students as a testament to broad educational access.
"Having over 5,200 candidates coming from the UPE sector highlights how vital public schooling continues to be for our community. However, our job does not stop at registering students as the Education Department they will aggressively step up school monitoring and mock assessments in the coming weeks because they want to ensure that teachers are executing the curriculum flawlessly and that no child is left behind when the final national assessment begins." Said DEO Wamala.
Mityana District disbursed a total of one hundred twenty million five hundred forty-eight thousand Ugandan shillings (UGX 120,548,000) in mandatory registration feeds to UNEB.
